Sales Status of Excavators in the First Half of 2013

As of August 2013, the cumulative sales volume of China's excavator industry was 75305 units, a year-on-year decrease of 10.88%, and the decline began to narrow slightly.

The sales of foreign-funded excavators have increased year-on-year, and their market share is showing an upward trend. Looking at different brands, the sales growth rate of foreign excavators is significantly higher than that of domestic brands. In JulyKobelco、Hitachi、KomatsuVolvo and CAT increased by 55%, 36.7%, 30.7%, 19.7%, and 13.9% respectively, while domestic companies such as Zoomlion, Yuchai, Foton Lovol, Xiamen Works Group, and Sany saw sales declines of 53.3%, 30.5%, 21.6%, 8.6%, and 1.7%, respectively; From January to July, CAT Beile grew by 15.3%, while Shanzhong and Shanhe Intelligent grew by 5.7% and 1.7%, respectively. However, the sales of Zhonglian, Xiagong, Komatsu, Hyundai, and Sany decreased by 50.6%, 46.7%, 20.9%, 17.7%, and 13.8%, respectively. CAT's market share in July was 9.2%, ranking second in the industry after Sany; Compared with last year, there has been a significant increase in the market share of Japanese and European American excavator brands.

The proportion of demand from Zhongda Mining has increased, and the growth rate of demand from the eastern and western regions is higher than the industry average. From the perspective of the demand structure of the excavator market, in July, small excavators (under 20T), medium excavators (20T-30T), and large excavators (above 30T) accounted for 45.7%, 41.8%, and 12.4% respectively. The demand for medium and large excavators continued to rise slightly, with both increasing by 2.8 percentage points and 1 percentage point month on month, while the proportion of small excavators decreased by 3.8 percentage points month on month. From the analysis of regional demand structure, the proportions of the eastern, central, and western regions in July were 33.3%, 29.6%, and 37.1% respectively, with sales increasing by 12.0%, -3.9%, and 15.1% year-on-year. The demand in the eastern and western regions was better than the industry average.
